Abstract Accurate spectral measurement and wavelength determination are fundamental vital for many fields. A compact spectrum analyzer with high performance is expected to meet the growing requirements, speckle-based a potential solution. The basic principle based on using random medium establish speckle-to-wavelength mapping relationship reconstruction. This article introduces current analyzers different schemes reviews recent advances in this field. Besides, some applications by also introduced. Finally, existing challenges future prospects of speckle recovery discussed.
